BI Builder in a closed network

If your Bitrix24 runs in a closed corporate network and isn't accessible from the internet, you can deploy BI Builder on your company's servers. Employees can create reports using data from CRM, tasks, and other sections while keeping the data within your company's infrastructure.

BI Builder in a closed network is available for the on-premise version of Bitrix24 in the Enterprise edition. A license upgrade is required to connect it.

In this article:

How does BI Builder connect to Bitrix24?

You can install BI Builder on a separate server or on the server where Bitrix24 runs. We recommend using a separate server so the load from generating reports doesn't affect Bitrix24 performance.

You don't need separate accounts for BI Builder. Users work with reports in Bitrix24 using their existing accounts and permissions. The interface and workflow are the same as in the cloud version.

BI Builder requests report data from Bitrix24. You don't need to make Bitrix24 accessible from the internet — the BI Builder server only needs network access to Bitrix24.

Where is the data stored, and how does it get into reports?

Data about deals, tasks, workflows, and other items stays in Bitrix24. BI Builder doesn't store this data permanently — it only stores reports, dashboards, and datasets, as well as connections and information about users and access permissions.

When a user opens a report, BI Builder determines which data is needed and requests it from Bitrix24. It then processes the information and displays the result as charts, tables, and other report elements.

For example, a report may need to show the number of completed deals for the month. Deal data is stored in CRM. When the report opens, BI Builder retrieves the necessary information from Bitrix24, calculates the metrics, and displays them in the report.

BI Builder temporarily stores some of the data it receives in a cache. If the data is already cached, BI Builder doesn't request it from Bitrix24 again.
