Access permission: Change product selling price in the catalog

Companies have different rules for working with the catalog. The Change product selling price in the catalog access permission should be properly configured for the company.

If an employee has this access permission, he/she will be able to change the product or service price in the catalog. The catalog price will be displayed on the website and in deals and invoices in CRM.

Note! In order to change the price in the catalog, an employee should have the access permission to edit the product.

How to use the Change product selling price in the catalog access permission

Let's consider two options:

The product price is recorded in the catalog. CRM managers cannot change prices and other properties of products. Only the owner of the company and some employees can change prices and give discounts to the customers.

First, create a separate role for managers or use the role, which is available by default.

Make sure that the View product catalog access permission is enabled for this role. Managers will be able to search and select products in deals and work with products in CRM.

Then check and disable the following access permissions:

  • Create product

  • Edit product

  • Change product selling price in the catalog

  • Change product selling price in CRM entity

  • Apply product discount

Create a separate role for the employees who will be responsible for the product price and disounts. Make sure that the following access permissions are enabled for this role:

  • Edit product

  • Change product selling price in the catalog

  • Apply product discount

Now only employees in the Supervisor role will be able to set the price and apply the discounts. If a manager communicates with a client and decides that discounts can be given, he/she chats with the supervisor to allow the discount for the client.


The product price is recorded in the catalog and the CRM managers should not change the prices, neither in the catalog nor in the deal. But they can apply a discount to clients and can change other product properties. For example, upload images and add variants if the product range has been expanded.

Create a separate role for employees and enable the following access permissions:

  • View product catalog

  • Edit product – this access permission will allow you to upload images and add new product variants

  • Apply product discount – specify CRM entities in which employees can use discounts.

Disable the Change product selling price in the catalog access permission for this role.

With this setting, when the manager adds an item to the deal, he/she will see the selling price, but cannot edit it. At the same time, he/she will be able to set the item discount and upload the image of the item.
