Bitrix24 M1 chat

We have updated the chat interface and have added new tools for work. We are going to tell you about chat changes in this article.


New features

There are some new features in the chat room:

Message layout. We have added two options for the message layout:

  • on different sides of the chat
  • on the same side of the chat

Context menu. A floating menu has been added to your messages. To perform an action on a long message, you no longer need to scroll to the beginning of it. The floating menu allows you to quickly perform an action without scrolling the page.

Message read status. The status is shown next to each message within chats.

Reading new messages. You can read new messages gradually. If you leave the chat, you will return to the part of the conversation where you left off and will not lose new messages. Unread messages in the chat are now separated by a special line.

Deleting messages. We have changed the script of deleting messages. As long as a message has not been read by any chat participant, the sender can delete it, and there will be no mark about it in the chat. We have also removed the restriction on deleting messages within three days, and now you can delete your messages in chats at any time.


Chat background

We have added nine default backgrounds to chat rooms. To change the background, go to chat Settings - Design and layout - Chat background.


New text input field

We have updated the text input field. It is one line high by default and automatically enlarges to fit the size of the message. You can create a task or a meeting from the chat by clicking the "+" button. To attach files, click on the paperclip icon.

Photos and videos — you can add only photo and video files. Uploaded files will be displayed with a preview.

Files — you can attach files of any format. If you upload a photo or a video in this way, it will be displayed as an attachment without a preview.

Recent files — you can attach files from Bitrix24 Drive.


Reactions to messages

Emoticons can now be used as reactions to messages. To add a reaction to a message, hover over the gray icon and select one of the emojis.


Pinned messages

To pin a message in a chat room, click on the dots icon and select Pin.

The message will be pinned for all chat participants. Tap a pinned message to switch to it in the chat.


Mark to read later

To remember to reply to an important chat message later, tap the dots icon next to the message and select Mark to read later. The chat with that message will be marked as unread. When you return to the chat, you will be taken to this message.


Forward messages

You can send messages from one chat to another. Tap the dots icon next to the message, select Forward and specify the recipient.


Favorite messages

Save important chat messages so you can return to them at any time. Tap the dots icon next to the message and select Add to Favorites.

Sidebar

You can find all the basic chat information in the sidebar: settings, members, chat privacy type, files, tasks, meetings, and links.

To open the sidebar, click the corresponding icon. Then, click the three dots (...) in the sidebar and select an action:

Pin chat in the chat list.

Edit: you can change chat name, configure access permissions, add department to chat members, and more.

Add members: invite one or multiple employees to chat.

Hide chat from the chat list. Use search by name to find hidden chats.

Leave: you can rejoin private chats by invitation only. For public chats, find by name and join.

Delete: only the chat owner can do this.

To open the list of chat members, click on the user icons. You can copy the chat link to send to employees by clicking Copy chat link.

Click the three dots (...) next to a user's name and select an action:

  • Mention user in chat
  • Send message to direct chat with user
  • Make chat administrator
  • Start one-on-one video call with user
  • Open user's profile or calendar
  • Remove user from chat

Also, in the sidebar, you can find:

  • Favorite messages
  • All links
  • Files and media
  • Tasks
  • Meetings

Going into context

Go to the message context using any sidebar item - link, file, task, meeting, or favorites. Tap View in chat to open the part of the conversation. You can also open the context of the original message, if you tap the quote.


In brief:
